My first tryst with Wodehouse
For a long time, I have heard of my friends speaking of Wodehouse as being one of a kind.I am an avid reader, but for a reason that can be purely called as 'a fate of misfortune', I have never taken off the time to explore Wodehouse's writings. After almost 19 yrs of reading , I decided to give it a shot under the urgings of a friend. My first Wodehouse book is on Lord Emsworth, let me try and portray the book's effects on me in a few adjectives.
The Book and style of writing : Delightful,English humour that is in a style of its own.
The Characters who charmed me
Lord Emsworth :Quite wooly headed, jolly old man who finds solace in Pigs :)!
Beach : A butler who goes out of his way to cater to the outrageous demands of Lord Emsworth ranging from throwing a sack of rats away to yoddling to make a pig eat!
Freddie : Lord Emsworths's son who can be termed a wastrel trying piously to get his father in law to throw some greens his way.In general , a nuisance with a manipulative mind
Empress : The rotund spoilt pig which Emsworth dotes on
So , one book down and these are the characters that have managed to capture my attention.Truly inspiring in humour, kudos to this author who captures the lives in an English countryside to the 'T', so much so that the reader feels one with the their lives. For those of you who have not given this author a chance, i strongly suggest you do!!

cool! Blandings castle stories are quite good.. i love them. but you must read a Jeeves & Wooster next. any Jeeves book is Wodehouse at his BEST.
@sameer..yeah man, im majorly pumped up about wodehouse, waiting to pounce on a jeeves wala once im through with roald dahl that im currently reading :)
Yup Jeeves is 'da' way to go. One of them shots and you are going to stay with wodehouse.
Its surprising , but he spoke for Germans during the world war II in a german radio broadcast. And he was put in jail for that too. lived to a nice old age , did Mr.Wodehouse.
Wait until u hear of the bunch of old crones who are his(Emsworth's) sisters, led by Connie and ofcourse the Gallant uncle Galahad Threepwood..the whole Motley crew at Blandings would have u laughing ur guts out.
